Crossings can also be very costly, and NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. works hard to deliver crossing solutions that work for each unique situation. Our experience ranges from small wood box culverts through the installation of large clear span bridges.

From mechanized falling to steep-slope hand falling, NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. can fall timber of any size in any terrain. To get fallen timber off the block from the various areas we operate, we use a combination of skidding, hoe-chucking, grapple yarding and helicopter yarding. You name it, we do it.

NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. utilizes a team of local logging contractors, many of whom own their own trucks, ensuring that we always have dedicated trucking capacity for our operations. Our foresters work closely with our contractors to ensure trucks are maximizing the number of loads per day and that our rates are adjusted regularly to meet changing fuel costs.

NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. utilizes sort yards in Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Hazelton and Stewart. Depending on the type of logs coming in, we use both piece scaling and weigh scaling. However, the majority of our logs are piece scaled, which enables us to target specific markets for the various species and grades we produce.

Forestry operations are complex and expensive, with many phases required to get from standing timber to properly sorted logs. NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. regularly performs quality checks to ensure roads are built properly, block boundaries are maintained, and logs are being processed according to specification. In addition, log values vary greatly from one sort to another. Therefore, NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. performs quality checks in the sort yard to ensure we are maximizing log values while ensuring we meet our customers’ product expectations.
