FIRST NATIONS
PARTNERSHIPS
The core idea on which NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. was founded was to form long-lasting partnerships with First Nations. We have a passion for working with First Nations which has been developed through 40 combined years of experience in the Northwest region of British Columbia.
NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. is not a ‘cookie cutter’ business, but instead we are a comprehensive forestry company that recognizes each First Nation has different priorities and ideas for a partnership. However, one common aspect of our partnerships is that they are built on trust and transparency.
At NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd., we believe that business success is not solely measured by profits. It is measured by the friendships we create together, the knowledge transfer that takes place regarding cultural and land sustainability, the employment created, and the ancillary business opportunities secured by community members. To that end, we pride ourselves on the fact that we don’t force our business agenda. Instead, we develop the opportunities our partners want us to.
We listen and adapt to the needs of our clients.
Another key focus of NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. is to develop and finance equity opportunities with communities that ensures First Nations business ownership. Through our partnerships and following our First Nations partners’ mandates, we negotiate and secure business opportunities with industry proponents. This approach provides industry proponents with the confidence that the impacted First Nations are engaged in their project. Through these partnerships we educate industry on how to best utilize First Nations expertise and resources. We believe employment of community members and engagement of First Nations leadership allows projects to benefit from local knowledge and expertise. This results in higher efficiency, cost savings, and improved communication and timelines.
NorthPac Forestry Group Ltd. was not founded because of an industry boom. We do not need the comfort of economic certainty. We are partners with First Nations through thick and thin and we’re proud to be on a journey that continues to evoke autonomy in business for First Nations.
